Synthpop Cover of The Last Unicorn Theme Song by Ninja Sex Party

Peter S. Beagle, writer of both The Last Unicorn novel and animated film, is currently taking the movie on a screening tour across the U.S. and countries around the world. To help spread the word, Dan Avidan and Brian Wecht of Ninja Sex Party and Starbomb released this cover of the main theme originally composed by Jimmy Webb. You may also know Dan Avidan as co-star of the popular gaming webseries Game Grumps. Their cover version has a nice “NeverEnding Story” feel to it that I really like.

Here’s the 1982 film’s opening sequence so you can hear the original song performed by America. It’s also worth mentioning that the animation was done by Japanese anime studio Topcraft, the precursor to the great Studio Ghibli.

Kenny Loggins also covered the song on his Return to Pooh Corner album.
