Three Amigos 2: Burnt Shadows on the Trail

This is a crude photoshop I made as a cover photo for the Rowsdowr.com Facebook page. It’s kind of random I guess, but Three Amigos is one of my favorite movies and I like the idea of those characters in a post-apocalyptic setting. Just imagine Lucky Day, Dusty Bottoms, and Ned Nederlander vs a plethora of radioactive zombies.

I’d also like to see El Guapo and Jefe come back somehow as mutants or cyborgs or something. How about El Rey Guapo de Los Mutantes (handsome king of the mutants) and Robo-Jefe? El Guapo could wear his sweater draped over his shoulders like a cape. Oh, and maybe since they shot the invisible swordsman in the first movie, he could come back as an invisible zombie swordsman.

Any other Three Amigos fans out there? Anyone have any ideas they’d like to add to this scenario? Feel free to leave a comment.

EVIL DEAD: AN ANIMATED TRIBUTE from Daniel Kanemoto on Vimeo.

For more information, visit www.exmortisfilms.com

Follow the evil that roams through the dark bowers of man's domain in this balls-to-the-wall animated tribute to the sights, sounds and unforgettable characters of Sam Raimi’s iconic EVIL DEAD trilogy!

This is my cinematic love letter to three influential movies that made me want to be a filmmaker: EVIL DEAD, EVIL DEAD 2, and ARMY OF DARKNESS.

I created all the artwork in the sequence, but the final image is directly inspired by an incredible EVIL DEAD poster created by Olly Moss. The moment I saw it, I only wanted to see it move – which is how I feel about all great posters. The new wave of artists working with Mondo have made movie posters worth collecting again, and that's a great thing. I hope to someday join their ranks.

And I can't wait to see the new EVIL DEAD remake. My studio specializes in title sequences, and I want the opening credits for this new journey to the cabin to be just as frightening and original as the film they introduce. (I would not-so-secretly love a chance to pitch my take, and if that’s even close to possible, I’m open for business at www.exmortisfilms.com.)

Special thanks to the cast and crew of the EVIL DEAD trilogy, Jeff Yorkes (who found me a print of that sold-out-in-an-instant Olly Moss poster), and Joe Pleiman, the most talented sound designer in the world.

Here’s a clip from the local Dallas cable access program “Joyful Praise”.. this episode aired shortly after 9/11, and features the children of some of the “Joyful Praise” staff members.. one of them sings a medley, wearing an ultra tacky outfit, belting out “Proud To Be An American” with an off-key voice, and another song.. while the other child plays an American classic on his keyboard, hitting the wrong notes constantly, and showing zero charisma..

“If you like exciting movies… this is the new magazine for you!”

Thankfully they only show half of this guy’s face. I don’t think the cover could handle any more excitement. Seriously, he looks deranged.

– Britta as Sheila / Lavernica (with Boots… Belt…)
– Troy as Hank / Bing-Bong, the Archer and such
